Bunnybot.com Announces The Top 10 Reasons Never to Shop Online Alone for the Holidays
San Francisco (PRWEB) November 29, 2007 -- With more holiday shopping done online this year, it pays to have your IM buddies closer than your credit card. As you fill your browser with shopping choices, why not get buddy feedback at the same time? Bunnybot is a new shopping experience that integrates instant messaging and shopping--so you can get instant feedback from those you trust most to make the best choices. Bunnybot puts the "social" (as in real-time chat) into online "social shopping".
Here are the Top 10 Reasons Never to Shop Online Alone for the Holidays from Bunnybot.com:
1. Because it's actually fun to go holiday shopping with your friends when you're in your pajamas, propped up in bed with cushy pillows.
2. Because while shopping for your girlfriend's gift late on December 21, you need your best buddy to IM you and say, "Dude, she'll kill you if you get her that."
3. Because your tech-obsessed Uncle Bob is the only one who can help you decide which GPS system is right for dad.
4. Because after a couple of hours of online holiday shopping, your vision can start to go and you need a friend to IM you, "Those really aren't cross-country skis at a great discount, they're a pair of silver latex leggings!"
5. Because when picking out a cell phone for your Christmas list, you need your best friend Emily to remind you that, "Everyone has that in pink, you should go for the purple."
6. Because when picking out an engagement ring, who knows her taste better than her best friend from high school who now lives in Budapest?
7. Because purchases made after 1:00am should never be made alone.
8. Because despite an average 4.5-star rating for that new bestseller, only your brother can IM you to say, "That book is only a page turner if you're snowed in at the airport."
9. Because your friends know what you look good in, especially when you don't.
10. Because a second (real-time) opinion never hurt anyone.

More good news coming Bunnybot's way
First an excellent review of bunnybot.com's innovations by Paul O'Brien. In it, Paul discusses how we've created a "comprehensive shopping vertical search engine with an open network that allows users to chat through all of the major IM platforms" and "a unique search experience which, in hindsight, is an obvious enhancement." What Paul really finds intriguing is that, "like Meebo, you could simply use the messenger window as an integrated chat platform; more than Meebo, Bunnybot gives you the single chat interface with a shopping experience."
Sweet!
Heading over to killerstartups.com, under their Why it might be a killer section: "Bunnybot.com allows you to communicate with your friends on GTalk, MSN, AIM, and Yahoo. Let them know about what great items you have found online by having instant connection with your online chat buddy lists. It is great that the bunny is there to assist you with any troubles you may have with the site. It is very cool how the category names are different colors and move around. It is definitely a way to make the site unique and is much more interesting than the usual drop list of categories. Bunnybot.com makes online shopping fun."

We launched!
We finally took our first bunny hops by announcing that we are ready for social shoppers and IMers to Buddy Shop!

And then a goddess named domestika gave us a sweet review and came up with a couple of winning lines:
"Who do you ask those important real-time questions, like, 'Would this make my butt look like the business end of a cow?' or 'Do you know if Dad already has one of those?'"
By IMing and shopping in Bunnybot you can get answers to those vexing questions without having to wait!
And, referring to our pongwords:
"Type in a query and you get a swirling tag cloud of options to browse in the virtual storefront." I like the "swirling tag cloud."
Finally, the very busy folks over at mashable.com had a few interesting comments, wondering whether we'd do well as a stand-alone application. To which I commented, "Our opportunity is to extend and embed Bunnybot into the social networks and IM platforms in a way that creates a win-win situation. Social networks and IM platforms are not shopping-oriented, and so our focus is to create the best shopping experience possible within these spaces.
We want to populate like... rabbits (and avoid the low-flying hawks)."
